Removes chlorine

KDF-55, calcium sulfite and activated carbon work together to neutralise 98% of chlorine and chloramines — even in hot water, where most filters stop working.

Filters heavy metals

Captures lead, iron, mercury, copper, nickel and chromium so they don't end up on your skin or in the steam you breathe — without affecting water pressure.

Adds back minerals

Ceramic and mineral media gently reintroduce magnesium and calcium — the soft-water feel that leaves skin calmer and hair smoother after every shower.

FAQ

Filtration explained

Everything you need to know about what's in your shower water — and what Watego does about it.

What's actually in my shower water?

Australian tap water is treated to be safe to drink, but it can contain over 50 different chemicals and contaminants by the time it reaches your shower head — including chlorine, chloramine, heavy metals (lead, iron, mercury), VOCs, sediment and minerals that contribute to hard water.

In hot water, many of these become more concentrated and can vapourise into steam — meaning you breathe them in too.

What does Watego filter out?

Our 4-stage filter targets:

  • Chlorine and chloramines (98% removal, lab-tested)
  • Heavy metals — lead, iron, mercury, copper, nickel, chromium
  • Sediment, rust and large particles
  • VOCs, THMs, hydrogen sulfide and bad odours
  • Pesticides, herbicides and ammonium

And it adds back beneficial magnesium and calcium for that "soft water" feel.

Can it help with eczema, acne or psoriasis?

Many of our customers with eczema, psoriasis and adult acne report calmer, less reactive skin within 2-4 weeks. Chlorine strips your skin's natural oils and disrupts its barrier — removing it helps the skin retain moisture and recover.

Watego is not a cure, and we always recommend speaking to your doctor about ongoing skin conditions. But filtering chlorine out of your shower water is a simple, gentle step that complements any skincare routine.

How long does a filter last?

Each cartridge is rated for ~15,000 litres or roughly 3-4 months of regular household use. We'll send a refill reminder when you're due — or you can subscribe and save 23%, with auto-refills every 3 or 4 months.

Will it affect my water pressure?

No. Watego is designed to maintain full pressure — your shower will feel exactly the same, just softer on your skin. The filter sits between your wall pipe and your shower head and adds zero noticeable resistance.

Will it fit my shower?

Watego fits 99% of Australian showers — anything with a standard ½-inch (G1/2 BSP) thread. You'll need at least 32mm of clearance between your wall and shower head (about two finger widths). If you have less, our optional Pivot Adapter ($22) gets you sorted in seconds.
